If you are wondering what’s so good about plastic surgery, then you know there are disadvantages. Mainly, it is the price you have to pay, but nothing is free after all. In the end, the good points of plastic surgery outweigh the bad.
Ask anyone who has had plastic surgery and they will say that they feel more beautiful. It is the client that has the final say on what they want to look like after the procedures, so they will surely feel more attractive based on what they wanted. Being more beautiful has many advantages, and in itself is an advantage. Plastic surgery is one path to achieving or gaining more beauty.
Plastic surgery can make you more confident. If you are not worried about how you look because you know that you are beautiful, then you become more confident and outgoing. Interactions with other people are more open and fun when you can put your attention on the discussion and not on worrying about how you look. More confidence means you can do more without worries, and get more out of life.
With plastic surgery, you can get more friends, being beautiful leads to having many people who want to know you. You can get more friends because you catch attention; those whose attentions you have caught will then want to be acquainted with you. Having more friends and acquaintances serves many purposes. When more people know you, you get more opportunities in this world. With good looks, you open the portals to the great and amazing things this world has to offer, allowing you to have more fun. It is up to you what you do with your acquaintances and pals. Then again, you don’t have to do anything; having many friends just for the sake of it is not so bad.
Another good point about plastic surgery is its ability to erase or mask marks left by your mistakes and disasters of the past. When we are young, we are not very careful and we could end up hurting ourselves. As teenagers we do all sorts of crazy things, some of which get us hurt. All throughout are lives, we are at risk from disasters and injury. These things leave marks and scars, in the literal sense. Plastic surgery can help you let go of the past and move onward to a brighter future.
Beauty has many uses. Perhaps some would say that using beauty to one’s advantage is wrong and unfair, but it is how the world works. Whether we want to admit it or not, the human mind is affected by beauty. It favors beautiful people, and so we do things for the good-looking ones that we would not normally do for others. Whether you use your beauty to spread a belief or noble ideal, or for something as petty as getting closer to the front of the line, you are simply applying your understanding of human nature. If anything else, beauty is a tool to getting what you want.

What defines art? Is it the medium? No, because art can be made with anything and the only thing that hinders the artistic from doing so is the limitation of technology. An artist would shape and mould air if he could, or twist plasma into magnificent forms if it was possible. Art is not material dependent, though material does play a major role.
Is it the form of the result? What we call art cannot be defined as simply paintings on canvas, or sculptures in bronze or stone. Modern art utilizes exotic materials like plastics, steel and scrap metals, glass, concrete, and even composite materials. The art of the future that we can glimpse in our daily lives is that of a digital nature; digital art, while not recognized by many art snobs as real art, is valued as such by many others — hence the name digital “art”. No, art is not about what form it takes, though form is integral to the nature of art.
Then is it the perceived value? Perhaps this is the most definite of the definitions of art. Ironically, while the definition is definite, the actuality is quite the opposite. People value different things, and no two people will look at something and have identical emotions. Thus, if art is something that we value as such, then no single piece will be valued by everyone as art — a man looks at a painting and says its art, another says it is trash.
Art is one of the most difficult things to define. There is no single definition, and debates rage on about what art is and what is art. If we said that it was a complex function of material, form, and value, then we could not grasp its entirety but somehow show a glimpse of the real meaning.
If we say art is a combination of what we use, what it becomes, and how we feel about it, then could we not say that plastic surgery is art as well? The shaping of a material to produce shapes and lines that some see as beautiful — is it not just another form of art?
The materials in this case are living skin and flesh. The material is delicate and difficult to work with. It is not that it is not easy to cut and trim; modern surgical technology has ensured ease of those tasks, and the technology is only becoming better. Skin and flesh are living materials and the state of the material changes by the moment. Even worse, the result must be as alive as the input or at least close to it. If art stands outside of material, then surely skin and flesh are valid media for art.
The resulting forms are crafted by the skilled hands of plastic surgeons to achieve beauty by the wishes of the client. This beauty too, is subjective. No single set of features is beautiful for every single person and so the value of such beauty changes with the beholder — the same characteristic of all other art.
Plastic surgery is the skillful crafting of skin and flesh into forms of beauty, in the same way that art is the making of media into something that may be valued in some way. In this sense, plastic surgery is art.
